Wing Commander Vyomika Singh on Wednesday said Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian Armed Forces to deliver justice to the victims of the brutal Pahalgam terror attack and their families. Briefing the media alongside Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, she confirmed that nine terror sites across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) were targeted and destroyed in a precision strike.
“These locations were carefully chosen to avoid any harm to civilians or their infrastructure,” Singh said, emphasizing the measured and non-escalatory nature of the operation.
Colonel Sofiya Qureshi shared visuals of the destruction, including strikes on Muridke, the infamous training ground of 2008 Mumbai attackers David Headley and Ajmal Kasab. Other camps hit included Sarjal in Sialkot, Markaz Ahle Hadith and Markaz Abbas in Kotli, Barnala, and Mehmoona Joya in Sialkot.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri condemned the Pahalgam massacre as an act of “extreme barbarity,” noting that victims were executed at close range in front of their families to instill terror. “This was a calculated attempt to derail normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir,” he stated.
Misri added that Indian intelligence had detected plans for further cross-border terror attacks, necessitating a proactive response. “India had both a right and a compulsion to act. The operation was proportionate, responsible, and focused solely on dismantling terrorist infrastructure,” he said.
The Indian Air Force, Army, and Navy coordinated the early morning strikes, which sources confirm were closely monitored by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
